Lombard is a DuPage County village west of Chicago, in the 630 and 331 area codes. It calls itself the Lilac Village, and much of what makes it worth a visit traces back to the Plum family’s gift of their estate to the town. Here are five places to see. You can also find Lombard on Wikidata.
1. Lilacia Park
Lilacia Park grew from the estate of Colonel William Plum, who collected lilacs and left his land to the village. Landscape architect Jens Jensen prepared its planting plan, and the park now holds hundreds of lilacs and about 50 varieties of tulips.
Each May the village celebrates Lilac Time, when the park is at its peak. It is open to the public daily and is an easy walk from downtown Lombard.
